Donors send questions for which we are posting. If this information does not help, please contact us and we will reply as soon as possible.

Do you accept VHS tapes?

We cannot accept them as most V.A. hospitals no longer have VCRs. The V.A. has even listed VHS tapes as hazardous if caught on fire.

Can I donate used DVDs & Blu-Rays to a hospital?

No. Hospitals only accept new factory sealed items. This is due to the sterile environment.

Can I send former rental store DVDs?

Just with VHS tapes, Veterans facilities cannot accept rental discs. This is due to the chance of retaining bacteria.

We recently had a family member pass away. Can we donate their movie collection?

Yes. Every so often we are contacted about a family member who has passed on for which a large collection of DVDs was left behind.

In donating a large collection, is there any assistance offered to ship them?

While DVDs4Vets cannot provide reimbursement for shipping or delivering donations to a Veterans facility, we can assist by working with both the donor and the recipient facility to have a donation picked up by local volunteers. However, based on the location of the donor, this service cannot be guaranteed.

We have a collection of military memorabilia to donate. Will you accept this?

For memorabilia donations, we arrange for V.A. hospitals to receive them for use in display cases to commemorate past service of Veterans. This includes die-cast models, 12 military figures or other hard to find items. For large memorabilia collections, we will arrange to visit your location for packing and shipping. Please contact DVDs4Vets for more information.

Are there any DVDs or subject matter I should not send?

Veterans facilities (hospitals, Vet Centers or State nursing homes will not allow or accept the following subjects:
No extreme violence
No horror
No political or religious content
No pornography
No serials (1930s-1940s)

Will I receive an acknowledgement letter for my donation?

While DVDs4Vets is a 501(c)(3) organization, we suggest including a letter or note to the recipient Veterans facility where your donation is being sent to. Include all contact information and kindly request an acknowledgement letter in response. Most Veterans facilities will honor this request.

Does DVDs4Vets have 501(c)(3) status with the IRS?
